The Turkish Shipowners’ Association has taken the first step in the digitalization of our maritime transport by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Hyundai Global Service.
Turkish Shipowners’ Association has decided to work with Hyundai Global Service within the context of the ”Energy, Operation and Environmental Efficiency Project” title.
The Turkish Shipowners’ Association signed a memorandum of understanding with Hyundai Global Service on August 31, 2022 within the context of the “Energy, Operation and Environmental Efficiency Project” for the the purpose of;
- increasing the energy efficiency of our ships in connection with International Maritime Organization regulations,
- reducing carbon emissions in accordance with environmental regulations,
- implementing that our ships are included in the standard letter categories depending on the International Maritime Organization regulations,
- preparing and sending of EU, MRV and IMO DCS information without human intervention in accordance with IMO and EU norms.
This is a concrete step of a strategic cooperation on digitalization with Memorandum of Understanding, The Turkish Shipowners’ Association and HGS. According to this cooperation, Turkish shipowners will be able to include as many ships as they want in this project with affordable prices. The details of the project will be announced very soon. Installations on all ships that want to participate in the system will be completed by December within a certain plan and servers will be placed on the ships.
It is provided at least 15% efficiency in the ships participating in this project.
At this stage, it was decided to use the “HGS Smart Ship Solution”software with the ships that will participate in the project first.
Hyundai also offers a service with the name Onshore Web Solution.
This project was started in December 2021. An intensive work has been carried out for about 8 months with a digitalization committee established by Turkish Shipowners’ Association. Before that, the project requests have been prepared in accordance with our needs. In order to understand the products and working methods of the companies with the Vendor list, a question booklet was presented and the answers were taken.
Negotiations have started via Zoom and 4 companies are in the project with the first elimination, face-to-face negotiations have started with the remaining 4 companies in Turkey. It was reduced to a single company on August 31, 2022 and an Memorandum of Understanding was signed with HGS, which recorded all our previous negotiations. Memorandum of Understanding has been signed recording all our previous meetings with HGS. In the next process, the “Standard Agreement” will be prepared and signed and this part of the project will be completed.
From now on, all these projects will be carried out with HGS under the title of TURKSHIP DIGITAL, which is a digitalization brand of Turkish Shipowners’ Association.
